Data Management Group Lead Vacancy Oxford University

The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. NDPH is home to the Clinical Trial Service Unit, a major international research institute and is also a key partner is the new Oxford University Big Data Institute.

As Data Management Group Lead you will have overall responsibility for all work undertaken by the data analyst teams across UK Biobank (both Oxford and Stockport), including line management of the Oxford data analyst team leader. You will also have overall responsibility for all work undertaken by the bioinformatics teams across UK Biobank, including line management of the Oxford bioinformatics team, with whom you will work closely to support the management of the forthcoming cloud-based data storage and analysis platform for the UK Biobank research community. You will have overall responsibility for developing and implementing UK Biobank's data management strategy.

To be considered for this role, you will need to hold an MSc degree or higher (or have equivalent experience) in a highly numerate subject and have a proven track record of delivering data management strategies and initiatives. You will also have the ability to lead and motivate technical teams in an inclusive and open manner, experience in database programming and interrogation using advanced SQL, be familiar with analysis of genomic data and associated bioinformatics tools and methods and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
